Hello List,
I'm not sure if my Yelton's came from Cornwall or
Devonshire but It looks like one of the two.
Looking for:
YELTON (variants: Yollaton, Yellaton, Yolton,
Yoltoun, Yeltoun).
In the areas of :
Berrynarbor 1568
Bishop Tawton 1701-1709
Braunton 1545-1640
Ilfracombe 1618-1691
Marwood 1664-1669
Stoke Damerel 1836
Travistock, Wesleyan 1831
Weare Gifford 1647
St. Ewe 1609-1630
My earliest YELTON in America is James born in
Stafford Co., Virginia in 1720. His father is possibly
William (some say Richard). The James born in
1720 had 3 sons, Charles, James and William and
three or four daughters, Mary, Ann, Amelia, and Nancy.
Parishes and dates came from the IGI. Any help
on the surname or how to proceed will be a great
help.
Thanks,
Iris
