Hi all,

I have just rejoined this list after a year or three away in the Isle of
Thanet. I have come again to the conclusion that it is likely
(possible?) that my 2xggrandfather came from Plymouth.

Peter BARTLETT was born about 1810 (pob unknown but in 1841 he stated
'In County' of Kent). He died 2 months before the 1851 when he would
have had to give the actual place!

I have a copy of his marriage certificate dated 1830 when he was living
in Ramsgate Kent.

I have searched, and am searching all the parishes surrounding Ramsgate,
for his christening but so far without luck.

I know that many fishing families migrated back and forth up the Channel
following the fish, with children being born in one place and baptised
in another so maybe my Peter was one of them. According to the 1841
census two William BARTLETTs, and a Jonathan and his sister Susan
BARTLETT settled in Ramsgate after being born in Plymouth. This is what
gives me hope for finding that Peter was part of a family which migrated.

Is anyone researching the BARTLETTs of Plymouth? Does anyone have the
time and access to PRs around Plymouth to do a lookup for me please?
Does anyone have any ideas for research that I have not thought of?

The whole business is laid out in detail on my web page below and I
really would appreciate some help. I have been stuck here for 12 years
or so.
