Many thanks to all those who replied to my original query.
a) The information received on Samuel Hunkin for 1871 fits with earlier and
later information.
b) The names Mary Ann Hill seem to be quite common at this time. The Mary
Ann Hill for whom I have an interest had a son born in 1859 - William John
Hill (or John Hill) and a daughter born in 1870 - Selina Luxton Hill - both
born in Beaworthy. Mary Ann Hill was born about 1831/32. It is likely that
she was living in Beaworthy in 1871.
