A gentleman from Newfoundland suggested that my ancestor, Ann Huxford,
may have come from Dorset to Newfoundland. On 3 April 1754 she married
William Gerrard in Christchurch. At the time of her marriage she was
listed as being from Placentia Bay, Newfoundland. William was
reportedly from Ince, Lancashire. The Newfie gentleman thinks the name
may have been corrupted to Huxter. Can anyone offer any help?
