Subject: :Searching for Lloyds Register of 19th century shipping

I am searching for the ships 1. General Grant, which went to India prior
to 1842 and on which was a surgeon William Guise Brittan. 2. Sir George
Seymour, which took the William Guise Brittan to New Zealand in Sept
1850, leaving finally fron Plymouth around Sept 9th 1850. Firstly I
need to know how to find the Lloyds Register of 19th Century Shipping
and secondly, which newspapers of the day (in London AND Plymouth) would
carry any commentary about about the departure of the Sir George
Seymour. Is it possible that there are log books available, if so how do
you gain saccess to them?
