Hi Roy
I'll have a look for this book. My research has only just taken me to
Marnhull so I haven't explored the literature fully yet.
When I told Beverely there was no industry as such in the area, I assumed
she was referring to industrial revolution type industry - factories,
textile mills etc . Maybe she meant small industries, but as most small
towns and villages had similar cottage industries I couldn't see how that
would link the towns. I was thinking along the lines of large mills/mines
owned by the same person, moving labourers from place to place and thus
providing a specific link.
I maybe misunderstood the question, but it doesn't matter because it's
provoked an interesting
discussion and given me some more avenues to explore for my new Marnhull
research.
Also in the Marnhull Vestry records there is reference to a resolution to
get wool made into thread for spinning to give employment in the village.
