Hi

Having noticed several mentions of the GOULD family of Upwey here
recently, and then this on the Wessex List last week, I thought that
there might be some interest: apologies to those who may have already
seen it.

As can be seen at the bottom of the message Jenny would be pleased to
help anyone from the Somerset end if she can!

>Did you know that lying here in the Somerset Records Office are the deeds of
>land belonging to Thomas CREECH Rector of Butleigh Nr Street Somerset, quite
>a number, in fact, dated around 1723, within this package of deeds is some
>for a John Gould of Upwey in the County of Dorset. Upwey is on the
>outskirts of Weymouth. On the back of the Deeds is the name Mr. Creech., so
>Rev Thomas Creech must have had some connection with the Weymouth area.
>Butleigh and East Coker are only about 15-20 miles apart and therefore
>Thomas Creech in the 1723 could be a relative.
>
>Also there are deeds here for a William Cryche of Bridgwater ,listed under
>the name of Creech, for land he sold, with his shield of arms on it dated
>1300, can't read them they are all on parchment and in Latin.
>There are also many Creechs bapt marriages and burials along the North
>Somerset coast villages and towns e.g Minehead, Culbone, Kilve.
>If either of you would like me to follow these up for you please e mail off
>site with all details of your ancestors, names. dates places etc.
