Subject: CHAFFIN/ CHAFFEY/CHAFIE Family - Sherborne Dorset

Hi

I just wondered if anyone else is researching the above names? I recently
found that my Great Grandfather (in Liverpool in 1881) was born in Sherborne
in Dorset. The rest of his line back to 1777 also apear to have stayed in
Sherborne. I noted a very heavy concentration of this rare name in he
counties of Dorset and Somerset. I counted approximately 600 CHAFFIN and
CHAFIE variants on the 1881 census, and of these, over 300 were in Dorset and
around 550 of the 600 were in the South of England.

Has anyone else come across the CHAFIE line?
