Subject: tiles and Odard!
Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 22:41:03 -0400

Hi Carole....
I just got a message from Ron Dutton in Florida. He's been studying those pictures of the tiles they excavated. He directs us to look at the tile at the far right...row two. He suggests that for this duscussion we make both the last letter and the first letter - D's. Then he took the small tile fragment in the middle of row two.....turned it over and pushed it up against the other one.......and voila' it could say ODARD!
So that brings up the question of WHERE might Odard have been buried!
(They didn't begin to build Norton until 1134.)
Do you have any thoughts on that one? I keep thinking of Halton Castle or maybe Kekwick....wherever that was. Wonder where Hugh Lupus was buried.....well, probably Chester. Or Nigel? Halton Castle?
It never ends, does it!
Phyllis
