Ancestry.com--now affiliated with roots.web.
I have had a number of "hits" on Ancestry.com, including finding a Melvin O. Dutton biography.
Now, I have been doing census search; the indexes list all persons in addition to the head of the family; unlike the soundex indexing system, they are not grouped as a family but all identified by page number and township, no other data.
Some of their data is from an AIS data bank.

For some reason, I did not locate Deodatus Dutton on the 1850 Illinois file. I had a Justise? H. Dutton and Elizabeth, but did not post it to file.

Ancestry.com came up with Deodutus Dutton Adams County, ILLINOIS, page 308, Ursa, along with Elizabeth Dutton, but
Justin H. Dutton and Thomas Dutton were on page 307.

My census notes had Elizabeth with Justise? H. Dutton, farmer age 30 and Elizabeth age 17.

Thomas Dutton in Illinois, page 307, Adams County was probably the Thomas Dutton and family, most born Tennessee.
Apparently not related.

Deodatus Dutton was found on Dick Dutton's Master File, rootsweb.com.
