Hi David,
if I understand right, I'll try:
In FTST data sets are imported into a project (as you probably know by now
<g>). If you'd like several different data sets within the same project,
just import the other data set(s) into the current project. They will stay
separate data sets but may be viewed etc. in one Picklist, Project Manager,
Master Place List etc.
With the project you want to import into open, go to File > Import > find
the data set you want to add and specify in the wizard to import into the
current project. Proceed with the import.

Is this what you're after?
BTW, it is in Help > Index > Import Wizard, you might want to check there
also.
