I feel I have to reply to your wide sweeping statement above. Some time
ago, I wrote to you about the letter chopping in TMG on a HP4. You replied
- get new drivers. I did and still the same problem. Later I bought a
HP950c to supplement the HP4 and guess what - yes, letter chopping and yes,
I downloaded new drivers and still the problem persisted. Unfortunately,
warren didn't mention what printer he had.
Then came FTST with a new version of VCF and yes, you guessed it - letter
chopping.
However, this time I happened to catch a mail from Caroline Gurney who said
"Repaginating" solved at least part of the problem and it did, both on the
HP4 and 950c.
The point I'd cautiously like to make is that you appear to have basically
condemned everybody's printer(driver) if it chops letters off. This is not
the first time this subject has come up and it does appear regularly but I
have trouble believing that this is solely the printer's fault. These days,
I still don't print any kind of tree in TMG, preferring to use FTW or
WinGenea, neither of which give any problem whatsoever, letter chopping or
otherwise, and as I said FTST if repaginated.
I only hope that this problem, and I understand it may just be a HP
problem, can be resolved by WG before TMG5 makes its appearance because I
for one think it is idiotic to have to use a competitors printer
capabilities to print any reasonable tree.
Have a good weekend
