Subject: [FTST] FTST FoxPro error

Since most everyone seems to have a warm fuzzy going for FTST and WG, let me
say that I have an ongoing problem with FTST which WG has been unable to
resolve.

On 11/2/2001 I sent an e-mail to WhollyGenes Technical Support detailing a
Microsoft Visual FoxPro error which was occurring while attempting to import
my FTM6 file into FTST and preventing the import. They were very prompt in
replying and requested that I send them the dataset, which I did.

Well, it is now 1/9/2002, over 2 months after I sent my dataset to
WhollyGenes. I have contacted WG Technical Support several times via email
and phone and all they can tell me is that they have heard nothing back from
the programmers and that they think that there is a problem with the new
GenBridge module for FTST (which is apparently the same as that for TMG5)
which cannot handle something in my FTM6 file. I have emailed Bob Velke
several times about this issue and have yet to receive a single reply from
him. Have I found a showstopper? I hate to burst peoples' bubbles, but to
me, this is not prompt technical support. I can get this kind of support
from FTM Tech Support staff. Even if everyone at WG took the entire week off
for Thanksgiving and then 2 weeks off for the year end holidays (which I am
sure they deserve), it would be nice to hear SOMETHING back from them
occasionally so that I know whether and when I am going to be able to use
FTST (and apparently TMG5) without having to reenter over 30000 individuals
with accompanying documentation. If a single problem such as this cannot be
resolved in a 2 month period (even with the holidays), I can't see TMG5
being available any time in the foreseeable future.

If anyone else is receiving a FoxPro Fatal error: Exception code=C0000005
while trying to import their file into FTST, maybe we can get together and
try to figure out what characteristic our files have in common so we can
help get this problem resolved.
