As Steven says, of course the box is still there, even though it's a color that doesn't show against the background. The text has to be contained in something.

But if the left alignment isn't what you want, why don't you just change it to centered or right aligned? To do that select the box, right click, select detailed properties, select the text item, then properties, and on the text tab chose the alignment you want. If there is more than one box involved, select all of them, right click, select all items (click on the first item, scroll to the last, and hold Shift while clicking on the last), select Properties and on the text tab chose the alignment you want.
