Subject: [FTST] Using FTST With FTM Import
Date: Fri, 25 Jan 2002 13:13:26 -0800

Before I get started I should explain that I am a total idiot when it
comes to FTST. I do not use TMG, but have considered purchasing it. I
have always used FTM (Family Tree Maker), currently Version 7. My
question is this: Are there some options in FTST that actually require
TMG to work? For example, the Research Log. If I understand my
software correctly, FTM only uses one Research Journal for the entire
program. In other words, each person is not allotted a "Research Log".
So when FTST imports the data from FTM, the Research Journal is
virtually useless, correct? Since FTST is a "read-only" program, data
must be imported from your genealogy program. If that genealogy program
does not use the same "options" as FTST, is there a way to get around
this?

I was also most interested in the "Timelines" discussions that I picked
up in the FTST archives. I would love to create my own, but haven't
figured out quite how to go about this.

Thanks for any feedback. I hope I'm not getting "laughed" right off the
list :-)
