I have a 19" monitor and find that there is an optimal size for the Details
view so that the fonts/buttons in Family and Tree view are not so large.
Size the Details window while looking at the Tree view until you get a
reasonable font size. I believe the magnification may relate to the need to
accommodate different screen resolutions among users, and I know of no
recourse other than resizing the Details window.

I agree the view is unattractive when magnified. There are so many options
in FTST to display the same data as Family that I rarely use the Family &
Tree views anymore. If you haven't already, check out the FTST online tour,
Chapter 12 (Screen Views) on www.whollygenes.com. Lots of good ideas there.
