Joseph Reichel, my ggg-grandfather, immigrated from Neuland,
Bemerland (sic) to Ouddorp, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands prior to 1785.

I am trying to find his German birthplace.

>From Ouddorp Records:
17 June 1785 marriage intent for Joseph Rijkchel (sic) ...born in Neuland
situated in Bemerland (sic)...the groom is of the Roman Religion.

13 Nov 1785 Joseph Reichelt (sic) married to Neeltje Tak.

22 June 1819 Joseph Reichel (sic) (Certificate of death) "being a son of
Johannes Reichel and Elisabeth Reichel...Neither the birthplace of his
elders nor that of himself was known"

In a kind reply to an earlier question (before I became aware of the
"Roman Religion" connection), Micheal Palmer suggested I search
Oberneuland (Bremen) old church and civil records which I did to no avail.

I have, so far, failed to find any logical starting places in the FHC IGI's.

It has been suggested to me that "Bemerland" could be a transposition of
Bohmerland (Bohemia?) "Reichel and religion would seem more in line.

Also suggested was a search of the Ouddorp archives for ony other "Roman
religion" "expatriates" that could have possibly traveled with Joseph.

Anyone with an idea of where I should go from here?
