Hello, Iva;

I cannot verify the background to the red sleeves thing, but if that is
the background to the ROTRAMEL name, then there is a glitch in it. The R and
the Umlaut-a should be in the opposite order .. It should read ROTAERMEL
(AE is an accepted transliteration of the umlaut-a) or more common in
Germany ROTERMEL (which is phonetically equivalent).

So in your search, look for Rotaermel, Rothaermel, Rota"rmel, Rotha"rmel,
Rothermel and Rotermel, which all are valid variations of the very same
name. That little annecdote held the key to this.... ROT = RED, A"RMEL =
SLEEVE(s) singular and plural as well. So if you want to find your roots
in Germany, look for the real "sleeves" which are "Aermel" in German...
