ROTRAMEL is a compound noun.
THe name is not mentioned as such in my German name book but....
A Ramel or Raml is Middle High German for ram.
Rot or earlier Roth described people and animals with
reddish hair.
Therefore the name might have referred to a reddish haired ram.
As you probably know, many people in the Middle Ages coined
their surnames from animals.
