I have OBERMEIERS, but they have also been spelled OBERMEYER and BROMEYER.
Do not assume that any phonetic spelling is accurate. Remember that many
of these people were illiterate, and the people writing down their names at
local churches, civil offices or ports of exit and entry were not much
better.

You might be surprised at who your ancestors thought they were (or you
thought they were).
