Hi, Vanderpool is definitely Dutch, and written in Holland i.e. Jan van
der Pool in this example "Jan" is the given name and "van der Pool" the
Family name. Freely translated it means something like "Jan from the Pond",
thus these people in the early day's lived apparently close to a well known
Pond, and the guy's name was Jan. In your case fill in whatever the name of
your ancestor was.
