Hi!
I am trying to find any information possible about the "Friedemann" family in Germany during the early 1880's to present.
My Grandfather emigrated to South Africa from Bremen, Germany around the turn of the century. His name was Paul Friedemann or Carl Paul Ludwig Friedemann. I know he was in South Africa in 1902. He was born about 1881 or 1883.
His father was Carl Friedrich Ludwig (Louis) Friedemann (my Great Grandfather) who was married to Helena. He was born in a town which according to records we have found looks like 'Wiede am Hurz, Germany', But the handwriting is not very legible.
Paul (my Grandfather) had a brother who we think was called Carl (Johann) Friedemann, who was married to Florella. He was born in Koln, Saxony, Germany and had four children Marie Beatrice; Florella Leonora; Franz Arthur and Conrad Harola.
It is also believed that my Great Great Grandfather was L.L.Friedemann.
My grandfathers mother (Helena) apparently moved back to Bremen and worked at the post office, other than the fact that she survived the 2nd world war, no other details are known.
I am researching this line to prove my German decendancy.
Any information available would be greatly appreciated.
Andrew Friedemann
