Hello all,

I was in Germany February, searching for Christian Kusel & Dorathea
(Meinke) Kusel and their 2 children Christian and William.

Obituaries of Christian Jr and William said they came to the US from
Proenitz at Lenzen, Prussia in 1852.

Through E-Mail with some folks in Germany I found out that there are 4 or
so Lenzens in the Mecklenburg - Brandenburg area. The only area we found
that was close the spelling of Proenitz is an area called Prignitz and the
town Lenzen in it. This Lenzen is about 3 miles from the Elbe river in
northern Brandenburg south of Ludwigslust and west of Perleberg which are
in Mecklenburg.

The Vicar of Lanz which is a few miles east of Lenzen didn't find any
Kusels or Meinkes in the churches he is in charge of in the Prignitz at
Lenzen area.
The Vicar in Seedorf which is a few mile west of Lenzen found a Frederich
Kusel that married a Catharina Meinecke (slightly different spelling) and
both of these were born around the same time my 2 ancestors were born. The
Vicar found many more Kusels there also.

Any help on the area of Proenitz would really be appreciated.
