Subject: MONUMENT IN MONTRÉAL
Date: Mon, 1 Sep 1997 14:39:19 -0500
I have been told that there is a monument on the eastern point of the ile de
Montréal, where le Blvd. Gouin slants south to join la rue Notre-Dame. It is
located between the street and la rivière des Prairies on the bank of la
coulée Grou, and commemorates the battle between 25 soldiers under M. de
Columbat and 100 Iriquois warriors on 2 July, 1690. My ancestor, Jean Delpué
dit Parisot was one of the casualties.
Is the monument still there; and does anyone know whether there are
pictures of it which may be purchased, and where?
Merci en avance,
Elaine
