Bonjour.........you have just seen the extent of my French. [grin]

Our ancestors came from France in 1770/72. Our name is now spelled
BOICOURT, but I am sure that was not the original French spelling. As
one
who is extremely familiar with the language, can you give me an educated
guess as to what the original spelling may have been.

Family members have given me these possibilities: Boulcourt, Boiscourt
Beaucourt, Boucourt. The first occurance of the Boicourt spelling was
in
Virginia in 1790 and also in Kentucky in 1800.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
