AltaVista Translator is quite good for translation from french to
english and very poor from english to french. Aniway it's very useful
for us poor french only speaker.

For anyone interested, I wrote a fairly simple message, translated it
into French using AltaVista Translator and sent it to a French speaking
friend of mine. Seems to be a very crude translation, he would not
recommend it.
If you want to use such a tool:
1- write short, simple (not complex) sentences 2- translate it to French
and translate it back to English 3- repeat 1 and 2 until you get
something usable 4- don't forget there is no guarantee this will work...
