Eli Lilly: A Life, 1885-1977, James H. Madison, 1989. This hardbound quality book is in almost like new condition. There are no tears in the dust cover, no marks, no loose pages, & binding tight. 6-1/2x9-1/4, 342 pages, illustrations, extensive notes, everyname index.
Although most are aware of the pharmaceutical company that he joined in 1907, fewer are aware of his new initiative in biomedicine & development of insulin, his passion for prehistoric archaeology, for which he was renowned in his field, the scholarly publications & financial & personal patronage that helped bring archaeology to professional maturity, His later interest in history & historic preservation he developed into research, the writing of history, & the preservation of houses & the encouragement of others made an impact in this field as well. He gave away millions personally & became involved in those projects that he supported.
He was a modest but strong-willed person, & this is the first full-scale biography of his life. An interesting book which will suprise many.
$15 plus $3 postage and handling.
