KIT CARSON'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY, Edited with an introduction by Milo Milton
Quaife, soft cover, 192 pages, index, photo, 1966 University of Nebraska
Press, Lincoln/London. First published in 1935 #33 in Lakeside Classics. Copy
of Carson's handwritten story of his fight with Shunar. Reared on the crude
Missouri Frontier, physically small, orphaned in childhood and bound to a
leather and saddle maker, David Workman, to learn the trade. He ran away and
Workman advertised in 1826 for a Christopher Carson, age about 16...ran away
from Franklin, Howard Co. MO. One cent reward promised to any person
returning the boy. Accounts of Indian battles, trapping, hardships, survival,
John C. Fremont and many other names. $12.50 + $2.50
