(many names). James Archibald Campbell, the founding father of Campbell
College, was born Jan. 13, 1862, every 3rd person in N.C. was a slave, and 6
days before he was born there was a sale of slaves:Bett, 65, $800; Ida, 60,
$400; Caroline, 11, $475; Lemuel 32, $550; Louisa, 18, $660; Lizzie, 17,
$535; and Wiley, 80, $1. (!!)
21 students showed up for the 1st day of school at Buies Creek, but 5 of the
boys agreed to help finish building the schoolhouse for James Archibald
Campbell. Family history of the Scottish family and the 1st ancestor who came
