Life in Norman England, O. G. Tomkeieff, 1967. Softcover, 6-1/2x6-1/2, 178 pages, lavishly illustrated, indexed, and each chapter offers suggested reading in lieu of a bibliography, and there is a map of London in the 12th century, and another showing the locations of the castles of the Norman Conquest and the royal dwellings and royal forests at the end of the 12th century. The only flaw in the book is that the back white cover is slightly discolored from age; otherwise the book is in near new condition, with no markings of any kind, highlighting, underlining, dog eared or loose pages, and the pages are supple.
This is an absolutely wonderful little book, that is not only filled with meticulously researched history, but lets you know what the laws, customs, - indeed, what life was like for both rich and poor during this time period. If you have Norman ancestors, you need this book to know what their lives were like. I am sure that this book has been long out of print, and for a thirty-five year old paper back, it is in wonderful condition!
The years covered in this volume run approximately from 1042 to the early years of the thirteenth century, and the book examines the effect of the Conquest on the lives and destinies of the people of England. The research that has gone into the history and compilation of the period illustration is incredible. The contents include:

An Alien King and Aristocracy
The Village
The Town
The Church
