Abstracts of Deeds, Northampton County Pennsylvania: Deed Book A-1: 1752-1763; Deed Book B1: 1763-1773; Plus Abstracts of Miscellaneous Public Records: 1749-1838, Volume I, Candace El. Anderson, First Edition, 2000. Softcover, 8-1/2x11, 241 pages, appendexes, and every name index. This large oversize book is a new book in new book condition & was still sealed in the plastic. The back cover edge did not cut cleanly, & has a very small area that needs to be cut off with a razor or something.

These deed books not only contain deeds, but powers of attorney, sheriff's sales, mortgages, bills of sales, releases, partition abstracts, etc. Given is the monetary consideration, date, book and page number, names of involved parties and their places of residence, number of acres, occupations, witnesses, acknowledgements, recorded dates, description of the land and its location, and sometimes the past legal land transactions. There are a number of Indian quit-claim deeds.

The second part of the book contains miscellaneous public records: Marriage contracts, indenture contracts, petitions for new townships, roads, etc., Slave manumissions, A birth record, court proceedings, licenses to operate taverns, letters to public officials, complaints, oaths of allegiance, etc. These records begin in 1749, three years before northampton was created from Bucks County, so the records during these years are properly those of Bucks County. All entries in this book are quite generous in their descriptions - not bare-bone abstracts.
