Hi All
I was looking up an ancestor who was a Bounty Immigrant and noticed that
she came out "under the protection of ... & wife" with another comment
that she knew the family. She was 27 yrs old from London and they from
Ireland.
Then looking at the Immigration Agents List I noticed that there was a
column for the bounty and sometimes it was 0 with the comment NPP or "No
Proper Protection".
Was "protection" compulsory for single females?
Did NPP mean they just didn't have a protector or something happened on
the voyage?
Regards
David C
