Hello Brent,

Information on applying for death certificates for New South Wales ia
available at http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/

If the death was before 1946 then you may find it more convenient as
well as cheaper to use the services of a transcription agent. The one
I use has details at http://www.marbract.com.au/

Deaths before 1946 are indexed on fiche and CDs so if you post details
here or email me directly I can look-up the index. Alternatively you
can do it yourself at the NSW Registry site however they do not show
the place of registration unlike the index fiche and CDs. This could
be important if the person has a common name or you are unsure of
their parents names.

If the death is after 1945 then email me privately as I have a large
database of Newcastle deaths and you never know your luck. I work in
Newcastle so your question is somewhat local for me, as compared to
you.

Cheers,
