Hi all
Can anyone give any advice where I could look for information relating to a
business carried out in Sydney in the 1800s?
It was Hardy Brothers-furniture dealers and brokers, as distinct from Hardy
Brothers, jewellers.
I have consulted the Sands directories, and have the names of the brothers,
and their addresses, but would like to know the origins of the business,
etc, etc.
Both brothers were born in Tasmania, but entered the orphan school in
Hobart, so I am wondering how and why they went to Sydney (other than by
ship obviously).
They ended up wealthy men, so I am interested in how they could have
started the business with so little to start with.
Thanks in advance for any advice-it's all welcome.
Regards
Leonie
