You are quite right.

Unforunately I had been away for two weeks, bought a new computer (1 gig to
40 gig - BG) and when I transferred Norton from old to new computer I
realised my definitions subscription had run out by 4 days
aaaaaaaaaagh!! but it was too late and zap GOTCHA!!
Now all updated and new subscription taken but boy did that cause problems
as well; fortunately all sorted now.
