Hello, I thought that I would throw this into the conversation about brothers
being tested. My lab should be completed with our Family DNA project
(Y-chromosome test), a group of 46 males in about a month. In this group, I
had a situation where four people paid their funds and sent in their
Genealogy charts yet did not bother to complete the simple swab test. I had
to scramble to find others who would take their place. I found three males
and we lost the money for one. Two of these were my brothers so... we will
see how the three of us (brothers) sort out very soon. I will let the list
know. I did not want to test brothers or even close cousins for obvious
reasons but we really needed them to represent one of Matthew's sons with few
representatives and I did not want to lose the money already sent.

In our study of 46 males we have I believe about 18 males with documented
charts to Matthew Strickland circa 1678 Isle of Wight, VA . They represent
three of his sons. The remainder of the group are stuck in their Genealogy.
Our goal is to sort the remainder to the group which they match closest to.
This way perhaps they can break down those brick walls by focusing on one
line and maybe backing into their line if need be.

We also have a few males who believe they are from a totally different
Northern Strickland line. Phase two of this project will test males from this
line who are documented to the Northern line to compare to phase one. I am
hoping that we find that both the Northern and Southern Stricklands are
related and perhaps an estimate of how many generations our common ancestor
connect. Again, I will let the group know once the results are in. - Ron
Strickland (Strickland Group Coordinator)
