Hi Wade,

Thanks for asking this question! I am looking forward to other's replies.

I already had a personal web site for our Martin family, so put a notice on that about our DNA Project, and set up a project web site. I am administrator for my husband's family's mail list and posted to that and belong to a MyFamily site for our Martin's and posted to that. Then I posted to some of the Rootsweb and Genforum message boards about the project and ask some of the GenWeb County Coordinators if they would put a notice on their sites (very good response on that). I have hit counters on all the web sites and have set up a message board on our DNA site so that people can contact one another if they find a match - later on, when we have some test results there. I have also done some searching on line and written e-mails to people who might be interested. All of this so far has gotten me a lot of site hits - 450 in 12 days on the DNA site... but only 6 test takers so far. I am looking at this as an ongoing project. I will post to some other sites on line, keep look!
ing at personal web pages of other Martin researchers and writing to them and/or putting notes about the project on their guest books. I hope I am planting seeds in the minds of researchers who will later take the test or ask cousins to take it.

Kay

Subject: [DNA] New surname project

Hi list,

This may not be the correct forum for this but I'll plunge blindly ahead
anyway. I'm trying to start a surname project for the names Glascock and
Glasscock. I've talked to Bennett about this and he has been a huge help.
Many of you are experienced in surname projects and I'd like any suggestions
you may have for "coercing" people to participate. Also if any of you know
any Glascock/Glasscocks could you put a bug in their ear for me?
I won't take up too much time. Thanks.

Wade Glascock
Bartlett, Tennessee
