Sanford:

For my money, the 12 Marker Test did not provide an adequate degree of precison on
which to base a high confidence genetic genealogical relationship.
According to the 12 Marker Test, I am a 12 to12 match with the following families
that have signed releases for the FTDNA database:
O'Boyle
Caldwell
Schmidt
Vincent
Agin
German
Croley
Panther-Yates
Ramey
Lenert
Griggs
Elliston
Canterbury
Hill
Everidge
Etheridge
Cook
Redd
Rodriguez
Jacobs
Schoch
Stewart
Reeb
Etheridge.

The 25 Marker Test eliminated all the matches, the closest match being a name not on
the 12 marker match list, who is 2 markers different on the 25 Marker Test. See

However these people all have different surnames from me and from each other and as far as I can tell are not related. If mutations have occurred at such a rate that people who are not really related match my profile, then how valuable is the 12 marker test? If I go to a 25 marker test will it eliminate some of these people?
