In case case of a poor sod like myself, who has no matches, I saved myself
the difference between the cost of a 12 marker test and a 25 marker test.
However, I hope someday that I will have the need to spend the additional $$
for the 25 marker upgrade (I can dream, can't I?).

Now take the amount that I saved and multiply it times the number of people
who are participating in a surname project, and the savings are truly
substantial. Many of the participants will be eliminated by the
less-expensive 12 marker test, and therefore they won't need the additional
resolution provided by the more expensive 25 marker test. The remaining
lucky contestants can get upgraded to a 25 marker test for the final
roundup.
