Anyone familiar with the projects sponsored by FamilyTreeDNA.com? It looks
pretty organized to me.

From reading the posts in this group, it would appear as if our Pace project
is much more mundane than some of yours. We are not interested (at least
not yet) in which ancient haplogroup we belong to or in theories of
evolution. Here's what we are trying to find out:

Most American Paces of British descent (there are also Italian Paces)
descend from two individuals in 17th century Virginia, eight to twelve
generations back from current Pace descendents. Oral history in the
descendent of individual #2 indicates that he was a descendent of individual
#1, but there is no recorded proof. A DNA study of representatives of these
two groups could help validate or negate the oral history.

Another goal would be to help current Paces to determine which line they are
most likely descended from, and since a 25 marker Y chromosome test can
bring the probability down to 4 generations or less, to indicate which sub
branch would be the best area of research for such persons.

Linking with British or British descent Paces of other lines could also help
in determining possible ancestry in Britain, which has not yet been
discovered.

We need your advice on conducting such a study.
