If you are looking into the JOHNSON surname, a study is in progress through
FTDNA. You get a discount for being part of the group. They started the group
with a few subjects along the Eastern Seaboard who may have had a common
ancestor. However, the study grew to include other lines of JOHNSON and now 4
JOHNSTONs have tested. (Our hypothesis is that some JOHNSTONs dropped the "T"
in their name, becoming JOHNSON.) However, we do not have any matches between
Johnston and Johnson yet.
