Interestingly I found out that Otzi had K mtDNA. The region of high
concentration of K mtDNA is in the Alps. About 17,000 years ago K left what
today would be Venice and settled in the Alps covering N. Italy and
Austria/Switzerland and French Alps. K is still found today in the Halstatt
region, the lake area of Austria/Italy and Switzerland. So that mtDNA has
stayed in place for all those thousands of years.
