As a relative newbie myself, I have found that just taking a month or
two reading all the entries, even the ones that appear to be over the
top, you begin to get a feel for the subject and the contributors.
Then, either ask or reply wherever your expertise and interest takes
you. The value of a newbie list without a resident expert or list
manager to answer the queries is questionable. After a while, the
entries on this list will begin to make more sense. Read the articles
referenced by the list postings, and on Family Tree DNA and other sites
as well. It will fall into place eventually.
