I would prefer a list republished from time to time. After four years
of reading I feel comfortable on Y chromosome but I will shortly get
Mtdna results back on which I too will be a green newcomer. Could the
list be divided for the two types of study interests?

All:

Possibly an initial "Welcome Aboard" email to new subscribers to the
list could be automatically sent and provide a link to a webpage link
which contains a list of already existing DNA Beginners Help Pages.
Possibly the List Administrator could maintain the page (or someone
else) which is the list of links to beginner's help and resource pages
and somehow she can get that link included in a welcome to the list
initial email to new subscribers to the list.
