Subject: Re: [DNA] age estimations based upon ASD-calculations

In a message dated 12/10/2006 7:38:02 P.M. Central Standard Time,
seems to have a very length-dependent mutation rate. The number of deviants
from I1a's 8 repeats at DYS455 is running at a much lower frequency than is
the rate of deviants from R1a's and R1b's 11 repeats at DYS455.
The SMGF range given for DYS455 is 7-13. However 12 & 13 are only about
1.1% of all 15260 haplotypes studied. Thus, your observation is consistent with
the notion that mutations occur at a higher rate when the upper limit of the
range is approached.
