No, the "normal" structure (e.g. 25 repeats, 220 bp (TCTG)8 (TCTA)12
(TCTG)1 (TCTA)4) is surely the ancetral structure. DYS390m and
DYS390p deletions are always downstream of normal structures and
never upstream.
