Subject: [DNA] Sardinian-American with DYS393=9 has tested L160+ (I2a1a)
Date: Wed, 10 Nov 2010 08:08:12 -0800
A member of the I2a project with roots in Sardinia has the rare value DYS393=9. The 9 has also been reported in two newborns in Sardinia who tested M26+, see Table S1 in this 2008 paper by Contu et al: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2174525/
Almost all M26+ have the unusual 11,21 at YCA IIa,b, but our Sardinian-American member has 21,21. But he has received L160+ results which confirms that he is M26+. L160 is downstream of M26 and L160+ seems to be a little more common than L160-. The only other M26+ person I know of with recent roots in Sardinia has also tested L160+.
