Of the 7908 mtDNA full-sequences you counted on GenBank, 760 were directly uploaded by FTDNA customers: 9.6%. Ted Kandell got the idea of such uploads a few years ago and got the approval of FTDNA and GenBank. Most have been uploaded through the efforts of Linda Jonas, and more recently, Ian Logan.
