Gwendolyn Marie Gerstenberger, 49, of Pierce, died June 29, 2002, at her home
in Pierce. A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Pierce United Methodist
Church. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to
8 p.m. Wednesday at Stoddard Funeral Home in Greeley. Gwendolyn Kerbs was
born Oct. 29, 1952, in Fort Collins to Doris Eugene Batman and Robert Harold
Kerbs. She married Richard Gerstenberger in 1972 in Pierce. They later
divorced. She graduated from Highland High School in Ault. Gwen was a member
of the Pierce Methodist Church and was very active in various community
functions. She grew up in Pierce. Her hobbies were cross-stitching, music and
church pianist. She had a tender heart toward animals of all kinds. She
especially enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was employed at Larimer County
Social Services. Prior to that she worked at Weld County Social Services. She
had a great sense of humor and was a very compassionate person, always
willing to help others. Gwen was a strong, independent person. Survivors
include her mother, Doris Kerbs of Pierce; a daughter, Dawn Bash and her
husband, Larry, of Fort Collins; a sister, Kay Byers of Iowa; and a brother,
Terry Kerbs of Arkansas. Her father preceded her in death. Memorial gifts can
be made to the Pierce Methodist Church and/or Animal Shelter in care of
Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th St., Greeley, CO 80634.
