FRANCIS FREDERICK WOLESLAGEL, Lyons, Ks. - Francis Frederick Woleslagel, 88,
died Feb. 18, 2002, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River, Kansas.
He was born Nov. 15, 1913, at Montrose, Colo., the son of Jason and Edna
Spencer Woleslagel. A graduate of Sterling High School, he received his
doctorate in law from the University of Kansas.
A longtime Lyons resident, he was an attorney and retired 20th District
Judge, serving from 1959 to 1980.
He belonged to the Presbyterian Church, the American Bar Association and
National Conference of Trial Judges. He was also a former editor of Judges
Journal magazine and Oyez, Oyez, an American Bar Association publication.
He was a U.S.Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a first lieutenant.
On May 14, 1942, he married Jean Hutton Smith at Chicago. She died Aug.
7, 1998.
Survivors include: a son, Jon, Rome, N.Y.; a daughter, Jane, Lyons; a
sister, Vorine Charter,
Sterling. He was preceded in death by a brother, Collins Leroy, and a
sister, Helen.
Funeral will be at 10:30am Thursday at Sillin Funeral Home, Lyons, with
the Rev. Dr. Al Spotts presiding. The casket will be closed. Burial will
be in Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling.
Memorials may be sent to Lyons Public Library or the donor's choice, both
in care of the funeral home.
